WANT TO SEE YOUR STORY ON HERE?

GET SEEN, GET WRITING

Have you ever wanted to write a story? Or think you have one in your head but you just got to sit and get it down on paper? Well this site and group is just for you as no matter where you are on your writing journey we will try to help and support you. Every story we receive we will put up on our site, if you are worried about spelling then use the old faithful spellcheck or get a friend to have a look for you. The main thing is that you are writing and it does not matter what it is. No rude stuff please!

Next month we are starting THE PICTURE A WEEK PROMPT that everyone can join in with, more news to follow about this.

I have just ordered a new book for my Kindle as I had some credits on Amazon. It is another of Elizabeth Haynes books called Never Alone and if it is as good as the last one I read then I will be super happy. It was one of Elizabeth’s books that Lisa Cutts read on holiday, then she ended up coming home to then write a book and win an award for it. There is always hope with writing in fact a lot of things depend on luck, fate, right time, right place, people you know and just getting yourself out there. If you want to read the book as well so we can chat about it then here is the link to buy it.

NEXT BOOK TO READ, WANT TO JOIN ME?

See you soon.

Poems

CONTEMPLATE

As I sit and contemplate the days ahead

without you by my side,

I wonder how I can survive.

This time without you by my side

My mind rambles to and fro.

I shared my dreams and wishes,

with you and you alone.

You guided me in life and death

to be the best I can,

your love enfolded me and kept me from the rest.

You made me into someone who

could stand above the rest.

I miss you more and more each day

when will the hurting stop?

Are you with the stars up there

or glowing with the sun?

I know you are at peace right now

still looking down at me.

I try my best to contact you,

to hear you from afar

or see your smile once more

will be enough for me.

JANUARY WE HAD CHARLIE GALLAGHER

I have been a serving UK police officer for ten years. During that time I have had many roles, starting as a frontline response officer, then a member of a specialist tactical team and I am currently a detective investigating the more serious offences.

My books are a series of thrillers and, rather unsurprisingly, policing is central to the stories.

The central themes are greed, ambition, corruption and addiction. Characters from both sides of the law will fall foul to their respective temptations.

I am inspired by what I do and see in my day-job as a police detective, though my books are entirely fictional. I am aware that the police officers in my books are not always show positively. They are human and they make mistakes. This can be the case in real life too, but the vast majority of officers are honest and do a job in trying circumstances. From what I see on a daily basis, the men and women who wear the uniform and among the very finest, and I am proud to be part of one of the best police forces in the world.

The books are set in the fictional town of Langthorne. This is typical of many smaller seaside towns dotted around the UK’s coastline. Once a thriving tourist destination, where the affluent built grand seafront houses, it has suffered a hard fall from grace. Unemployment has blighted the area and so has crime. Drugs are a big scene. Most UK seaside towns have a problem with them. The Epping Hill estate (known by the locals as Effingell) was constructed in the 80s in response to a sudden demand for social housing and now it’s onto the third generation. Thirty years of crime, violence and desperation have become part of the very fabric of the estate.
