Not only is Claire a children’s author but also a very good gardener with a youtube channel. Wife of Mark Stay the Sci-fi author so expect many great things from this mighty duo.
Claire has been gardening since she was a child and is now one of the UK’s top gardening bloggers – her Youtube channel has had over 4 million views with over 15,000 regular subscribers. She has worked with various children’s groups, including gardening clubs and the Matrix theatre company, and she also runs special Lottie and Dottie workshops for younger children.
Mark writes Sci-fi adventure, the newest release is The End of Magic 2019 which is available on Amazon here.
Mark co-wrote the movie ROBOT OVERLORDS with director Jon Wright, which was selected for the 58th BFI London Film Festival, he also wrote the film’s novelisation which was published by Gollancz to critical acclaim. Mark is also co-presenter of The Bestseller Experiment podcast, where he and Mark Desvaux challenged themselves to write a Kindle bestseller in 12 months. Their novel, BACK TO REALITY, was an international bestseller in 10 categories. Born in London, he now lives in Kent (it’s the law, apparently) with writer and Youtube gardener Claire Burgess, their kids, several chickens and a murderous fish.
What a busy time the writing group have had the last few weeks, first we had the book event and meeting all those brilliant authors, I will be doing blog posts about each of them next week.
The Chambers hosted a fundraising Christmas market to raise funds for the homeless, another great event last Sunday. Jodie and I bought a pack of the wax covers and food wrap which are made from cotton and wax. Feels hard but softens so you can wrap it around food, such as lime and lemons for your Christmas drinks.
We then popped over to the wellbeing centre as they had some stalls where people were selling things they had made. Jodie got a cute little wreath to put around a candle.
We also had our Living Advent calendar door number ten to open, what an absolutely brilliant evening. The five ghost stories about prominent places in Folkestone went down so well and everybody remembered their lines. We then had a Christmas buffet for members and family so that was a great evening.
We are finished now for this year but will be back on the eighth of January when I will be on the radio then the next day we have the first group meeting at The Hideaway at 6.30.
THE CHAMBERS 6PM FOR OUR GHOSTLY TALES SPONSORED BY THE CHAMBERS AND KAREN’S WORLD
A very ghostly affair tonight, are you brave enough to come and listen?
The group has worked really hard researching and writing these pieces for tonight’s performance. It would be lovely to see you there supporting them and the group.
It’s been a busy year for the group so we are finishing off with a bang or maybe a carol. Afterwards, we will be downstairs at the back of the bar for a Christmas drink so if you would like to find out more about the group then do please pop along.
During the Christmas break, I will be doing posts about the many authors that attended our ‘Meet The Author’ event last month so look out for them.
