CHARLIE GALLAGHER

I have been a serving UK police officer for twelve years. During that time I have had many roles, starting as a frontline response officer, then a member of a specialist tactical team and also as a detective investigating the more serious offences.

My books are a series of thrillers and, rather unsurprisingly, policing is central to the stories.

The central themes are greed, ambition, corruption and addiction. Characters from both sides of the law will fall foul to their respective temptations.

I am inspired by what I do and see in my day-job as a police officer, though my books are entirely fictional. I am aware that the police officers in my books are not always shown positively. They are human and they make mistakes. This can be the case in real life too, but the vast majority of officers are honest and do a job in trying circumstances. From what I see on a daily basis, the men and women who wear the uniform and among the very finest, and I am proud to be part of one of the best police forces in the world.

The books are set in and around the fictional town of Langthorne. This is an area that is typical perhaps of many seaside resorts on England’s south coast: beautiful scenery, raw and rugged terrain and a dark underbelly.

Maddie Ives Books:
Book 1 – He Is Watching You
Book 2 – He Will Kill You
Book 3 – He Will Find You
Book 4 – He Knows Your Secrets

The books of the Langthorne Series:
Book 1 – Bodily Harm
Book 2 – Panic Button
Book 3 – Blood Money
Book 4 – End Game
Book 5 – Missing
Book 6 – Then She Ran
Book 7 – Her Last Breath

The box set containing books 1-3 of the Langthorne series is currently available at just 3.99p (as a digital download).

Ruthless

As you can see from the photos Charlie is very basic in his promotional material but he must be doing something right as he sold ALL his books at this event. Like all authors Charlie will help and advise wherever he can.

KATE ABLEY

I am Kate Abley and was accidentally born and intentionally live in London, England, where, amongst other things I have been an awful front woman in a terrible psychobilly band, good dish-washer, bad shop assistant, officially outstanding Early Years teacher, adequate child consultant, nice charitable fund-giver, passable event organiser and failed political activist. Last century, I wrote the useful non-fiction book, ‘Swings and Roundabouts: The Dangers of Outdoor Play Safety’ (1999), Sheffield Hallam Press. Nowadays, I am a respectable and happily married woman with two children who have grown-up pretty well and have turned my hand to killing plants and writing stories. I have nothing against cats, fear all dogs great and small and quite like Marmite.

Kate’s book is available here.

THE BUILD-UP & THE THANKS

ACADEMY FM 105.9

A25D30B5-711F-4481-802F-52F879D70B10

During the build-up to the author event last week I took two authors into Academy FM to have a chat with Kay.

Kate Abley has written her first book called Changing the subject, which she very kindly gave me a copy of so it is on my list to read. Then from Ashford, we have Drew Wagar who is on his ninth book! You can read more about each author under the event tab.

Very good show so I will be putting up on here later in the week, I was the only one that messed up as usual.

I loved the signs that Rosie did from The Chambers and they certainly pulled in the crowds.

I will be doing a post about each author that attended the event over the next month if it makes you wish you had been there then make sure you put it in your diaries for next year. I had no thoughts about doing this again but I have been asked by everybody who came also Chris and Liz from The Chambers. It was an excellent venue with more authors popping up around each corner downstairs. So it looks like I will be hosting another ‘Meet the author’ event in 2020!

I had many thank you’s and I would like to share a selection with you, as without the authors I could not have accomplished this. At least next year I know all what to do and what worked well, maybe I will practise the poster making on Canva a bit more! lol

Thank you to everyone who came to the event, see you next year.
